And another from BrockNews: The Spencerville Mill is encouraging people to play dress up and bring history to life during their 'Heritage Fair' set for June 4th & 5th at the mill.
The Spencerville Mill is offering a series of events designed to engage the public in reliving history themselves – not just watch reenactments as bystanders.
Prizes are available to the individuals and organisations that are best at bringing history to life. For example, the Organisation that brings the Early Victorian period most to life will receive mention in the Mill’s July Calendar advertising. Competitors are asked to present themselves for pictures and inspection at the General Store in the Spencerville Mill during the Heritage Fair for entry.

Heritage Fair events will include the Rainsoft Militia Muster Roll, where historical interpreters from the Brockville Infantry Company and Johnstown Gun Crew will lead local men on what would have been an annual event. Men are requested to bring their own weapons and line up for 2PM on Saturday, June 4.
Several well-known antiques appraisers will be present at the Antiques Appraisal Fair from 10-4 on Saturday, June 4. The cost is $10 per item appraised, with all proceeds going to the Spencerville Mill Foundation.
The Antiques Appraisal Fair will be held in the Mill Garden. HomeStars.com will also be present, helping take reviews on contractors. For every review added, HomeStars will donate $10 to the Mill.
Enjoy two performances and a great meal for just $30 per person at the Roast Dinner, featuring music by Sage Brush Country, and the Country Dance with live music by Riverthieves. Both events will take place on the Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.spencervillemill.ca, at the Village Pantry or (if feeling lucky) at the door.
Among other entertainment include a Historic Market, a Victorian Tea with an appearance by Sir John A. Macdonald, and Carriage Rides.
The Heritage Fair is expected to become an annual event, with plans to mark the Mill’s bicentennial next year, in addition to commemorating the War of 1812.
