EMPOWER ACCESSIBILITY: JOIN THE RISE UP CAMPAIGN
Having successfully preserved the last remaining mill on the South Nation River for the past 30 years, the Spencerville Mill Foundation is facing a new challenge. To fulfill its role as a community hub, the Spencerville Mill & Museum must be INCLUSIVE and ACCESSIBLE to the ENTIRE community.
We have witnessed occasions when individuals wanting to attend events on the Upper Level or see the turbine gears in action on the Lower Level, cannot because they are unable to navigate stairs. By providing barrier free access to all three levels, we will be able offer equitable opportunities for all those visiting our community to engage in exhibits and events held in our cherished mill.
We are optimistic that access to our upper and lower levels will soon be easy for all. In order to meet this challenge, we must install a modern-day elevator that blends seamlessly with the existing historic 1860s legacy of the Mill’s interior. This means that, in addition to the purchase and installation of costly equipment, we will also employ expert heritage carpenters.
An elevator will not only benefit those who are unable to climb stairs, but our aging board of directors and volunteers, caterers and musicians providing service to weddings and other functions, or anyone in general needing to move equipment.
While precise figures are being finalized, it appears likely that our budget will surpass $100,000. Having dedicated over a year to fundraising efforts, we are thankful for a generous private donation of $30,000, which matches the amount we've raised thus far. Despite this achievement of $60,000, there is still work ahead of us.
YOUR SUPPORT IN THE RISE UP CAMPAIGN ISN'T JUST ABOUT AN ELEVATOR IN A MUSEUM; IT'S ABOUT MAKING HISTORY EXHIBITS & COMMUNITY
EVENTS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL.
Join us in our endeavour by sponsoring our on-going Rise-Up campaign. We invite you to help ensure our fundraising success with a financial donation of $250, $500 or $1,000 or more if you wish. All donations will go specifically to elevator project expenses. A full tax receipt will be issued to all donors.
We would benefit YOUR financial support whether as a significant donor and benefactor or an interested person able to send us anywhere from $20 to $100.
